Aly Khamees

Aly Khamees is a dancer, actor and choreographer born in Cairo (Egypt) and living in Zurich. He was active in street theatre and dance from an early age, completed a course programme for contemporary dance until 2011 and subsequently danced for various dance companies in Europe and Egypt (including Desent-Danse, Ultima Vez, Homa Company). As a choreographer he developed the movement style "Bullet and Knife" – inspired by traditional Egyptian street dance, which is combined with contemporary dance and power movement. It is important to him to use dance to talk about social challenges and to involve the audience in the process.
